Joggers do themselves proud at big race in Derby

Jog Derbyshire participants and Dynamos enjoyed superb running conditions at the popular Derbyshire Building Society 10K and 3K Walk•Jog•Run on Sunday.

Around 35 runners took advantage of Club Jog facilities laid on by Jog Derbyshire and the Dynamos and used the lounge to drop off their bags, meet and chat with other runners, grab a goodie bag and even get a sport massage!

Well done to everyone who took part!

Sport Relief Mile participants support a great cause

By taking part you helped support a great cause and set off on your journey towards a fitter, healthier lifestyle.

Some of you will have met our Jog Co-ordinators, Natalie and Michelle for the first time today. They will have told you all about Jog Derbyshire, a scheme which trains up Jog Leaders to run jogging groups for absolute beginners and helps them achieve their goals.

Big Lottery cash boost for Jog Derbyshire

Our mission to get Derbyshire moving through the county-wide Jog Derbyshire project has been given a major lift thanks a grant worth £197,544 from the Big Lottery Fund.

The news means we can expand on the already successful project which has 65 active groups across the county and more than 1,800 members.

Margaret Blount, Deputy Director for Derbyshire Sport said: “Jog Derbyshire has been a really successful project which has changed people’s lives. For some participants they can now jog 5k but for others the change has been far more significant.

" They can also jog 5k but they have lost weight, gained confidence, developed new friendships, increased their self esteem, been able and willing to take on new opportunities, some related to jogging, some in other aspects of their lives.”

If you would like to lead a jogging group in Derbyshire contact us on 01773 571231. Use the group search to find your nearest group.
